Professional Summary
Recently retired in September 2024 after 30 years as an executive at SC Johnson. Meg started her career in brand marketing on well-known home cleaning brands Shout®, and Scrubbing Bubbles®. She quickly moved into innovation roles, including being the first Marketing lead within the Warehouse Club channel. In this role, she gained additional experience with Glade®, Mr. Muscle®, Windex®, Pledge®, Raid® and Ziploc®.
Meg’s career took a non-traditional turn when she moved into the Research & Development division to serve as head of the Technology Acquisition Network. In this company wide role, she was responsible for driving acquisition of strategic external technologies that accelerated new product development and created new business growth for SC Johnson. She also worked with the mergers & acquisitions group while heading the TAN group, which provided important negotiations experience. Her role expanded when she was asked to pilot and institutionalize front-end innovation processes in Design Methods and Breakthrough Thinking. She coached and trained a 20+ person team, which became the Enabling Innovation group. Reporting to the company’s Chief Technology Officer, she had oversight of 80+ innovation projects company-wide. Her responsibilities also included oversight of the company’s Greenlist™ Sustainability initiative. She served during this time on the RD&E Executive Leadership team.
By far, Meg’s favorite role was in starting and growing the New Ventures group within SC Johnson. As employee #1, she had oversight responsibilities for “Deal Generation”, charged with providing leadership, structure and onboarding for how SCJ worked within the start-up ecosystem. This included networking, promoting and nurturing relationships inside and outside the venture innovation community. As the group continued to grow in importance and size, she led the strategy, process and structure for vertical landscapes that helped guide start-up selections. She served on every deal team during her tenure, leading both negotiations and due diligence activities. During this time, she also served in post deal roles, both as a liaison for venture companies, as well as serving as an SCJ Board Member for two SCJNV investments – Briotech and HygieneIQ.
Meg has served as Co-Chair for SCJ’s Women’s Business Council and led key leadership initiatives and new work/life balance programs to help drive SCJ’s inclusion on Working Mother and Fortune Magazine’s “Best Companies” ranking. She has also served as Executive Sponsor for the company’s Design Internship program.
Personal
Meg has been happily married, recently celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary with her husband. They have two adult children, whom Meg and her husband enjoy travelling to visit as they begin their careers in different cities. Her other two favorite travel spots with her spouse include the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and Hollywood, Florida, where they just bought a new condo on the beach! When she’s not travelling, Meg volunteers her time to causes that promote education for women. She serves as the State Chairperson for Distinguished Young Women of Wisconsin, a scholastic honorary program for high school females. In the four years since she has taken over state responsibilities, she and her State Committee have brought on 130+ volunteers, expanded from two local programs to eight local programs throughout the state, and awarded over $150,000 in college scholarships to deserving females throughout the state of Wisconsin.
