About
Jennifer McClure is a senior executive, advisor, board member and collaborative leader deeply committed to understanding the mission, strategy, challenges and opportunities of the organizations she serves. This enables her to effectively serve as a trusted advisor and independent director. She has held board leadership roles for private companies, family-owned companies, and nonprofit organizations, including serving in the role of Chairman of the Board. She has chaired Audit, Nominating, Governance and Strategic Planning committees, and has served on Compensation and Finance Committees and in the officer role of Board Secretary. As a Qualified Risk Director with experience in digital strategy and transformation, data privacy compliance, cyber risk management and AI, she is well equipped to lead Risk, Digital Transformation, and Cyber committees.
Ms. McClure currently serves as Vice Chair of the board of directors of Accelerator Media, the Board Secretary of Friends of PBS Wisconsin, and the boards of Miracle Messages and Luci Creative. She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Private Directors Association’s Wisconsin chapter. Ms. McClure was an independent board director for Observer Publishing Company, a 4th-generation family-owned media company, where she served on the Compensation Committee. She also served on the board and Executive Committee of KQED Public Media, where she chaired the Nominating & Governance and Audit committees. She was a board member and Audit committee chair of Watermark, an association for professional women, and helped lead the merger between Watermark and Upward. Additionally, Ms. McClure is on the advisory team of Boardwise, is a Limited Partner in four venture funds and served on the Investment Committee of AVG’s Spike Ventures.
Ms. McClure has served in the C-suite as CEO, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Communications Officer. Business Insider has recognized her as a Power Player in management consulting, as one of the most influential executives disrupting the industry. She spent much of her career in the Silicon Valley and has extensive executive experience in media and communications, technology, information services and professional services. As founder, CEO and Chair of JEM Consulting & Consultants Collective, she grew the firm for seven years, ultimately leading the merger of JEM with 2GO Advisory Group, where she then served as a Managing Partner and a member of the Executive Committee throughout the integration of the firms until January of 2024.
As a public company executive, Ms. McClure has led digital transformation, corporate communications and marketing for global media, technology and information services companies. As Vice President of Digital at Thomson Reuters, she led digital transformation strategy and governance for the $12b global enterprise. She formed and led the Digital Center of Excellence, advised innovation and product development teams, oversaw global digital corporate communications, served on the Executive Sales Leadership Council and was a member of the M&A Core Team. She served as CMO of Redwood Collaborative Media and was instrumental in the company’s successful acquisition. She held senior marketing and PR roles at Ziff Davis and as an interim/fractional Chief Communications Officer she has developed strategic communications and marketing strategies across multiple industries, including aviation, biotech, consumer packaged goods, life sciences, manufacturing, professional services and SaaS.
Ms. McClure has a proven reputation for identifying significant business and technology trends. In 2005, she co-founded the Society for New Communications Research, a think tank focused on the impact of digital and social media on business, media, culture and society. She was Chairman and CEO for 10 years and led the organization’s merger with The Conference Board in 2016, where she served as Distinguished Principal Fellow and Program Director until 2023. She is currently a Senior Fellow and advisor at Team Flow Institute, which is focused on the future of work in the age of AI. Ms. McClure holds a master’s degree from Stanford University, a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College, and a graduate certificate in History, Politics and Society from the University of Oxford’s Exeter College.
