Abigail Hanna manages $64 million dollars of annual receivables and an $11 million-dollar operational budget. She has a long history of being a key executive and student advocate. She supervises 60% of Cartage College’s staff and functions. She reports to the President of the college and interacts frequently with the Board of Directors.
Taking on challenging initiatives including budget management, constituency management, data gathering and analysis, and institutional leadership she is a trusted leader. She led the rebranding of the athletic programs from Red Men to Firebirds. Additionally, she overhauled the food service vendor services, decreasing costs and increasing student satisfaction. By evolving the institution’s culture, improving technology, and implementing better procedures, she was successful in closing equity gaps in graduation rates. She has directly achieved consistent year-over-year institutional expense reductions while not sacrificing quality.
Since 2009, Abigail has served as an Executive Representative to the Board of Directors at Carthage College. In 2011, she became a Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha and in 2022 she became, Nominations Committee Chair and Member of Milwaukee Women Inc.
Abigail joined Carthage College in 2009 and has served its board, 250 scholars and 2,800 students by leading human resources, payroll, marketing and communications, student financial services, office of the registrar, institutional research, housing, dean of students, health and counseling, student engagement, information technology, and career and professional development. She currently leads 12 college departments (66% of institutional units). She has redesigned the organization and led a $7M transition of campus food service providers with $2M of savings and a healthcare reorganization resulting in an 8% reduction in costs, while increasing student satisfaction. Leading a key program, Moonshot for Equity as Carthage’s representative, she had an initial 10% decrease in equity gaps as it relates to graduation and student success in the second year of a ten-year project. Her current title is Vice President for Administrative Planning and Innovation and Chief Organizational Development Officer. Prior to Carthage College, Abigail was the Director of Registration Services at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. She started her career as the Assistant Director of Enrollment Management at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, MOSE.
Abigail holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D), Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Concordia University. She has a BS, in Human Services, Non-profit Administration from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
She is part of the Alpha Iota Sigma and International Interdisciplinary Honor Society and the United Way of Racine County serving on their Equity Innovation Fund. She is a founding member of the Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy. She is also a member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers, Wisconsin Association of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers, Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and the Mid-America Association for Institutional Research.
